ECC WMS vs Decentralized-WMS vs SCM - Extended-WMS. Confusing SAP Strat

Have a Question ... pertaining to SCM-EWM = Extended Warehouse Management Functionality in SCM.

 

I knew  WMS  Functionality that is part of erstwhile  R3 4.6, 4.7 and now  ECC 6  Releases.

 

Back in 2003-2004 also came  "Decentralized WMS" which was the same thing, but WMS implemented

on a Separate Server integrated to R3 via IDOCs/BDOCs.   It had additional functionality of  TRM (Task & Resource Mngt)

which I know as my team has implemented in my earlier job as SCM Manager.   At that time there was no WMS inside of  SCM  (primarily APO).

 

I am now quite confused with the  "Extended WM" functionality that has come as part of  SCM  along with APO.

 

-  What is the reason for coining EWM ?  Architecture seems similar to D-WMS.   Is this meant to be a 'Replacement' for D-WMS  ?  

 

-  I am reading this EWM having functionality similar to  D-WMS  (eg : TRM, Cross Docking, RFID) ... so it

   appears to be the same ... except now I am reading it has functionality called  'Slotting', 'Rearrangement', 

'Transportation Cross Docking",  "EH&S Integration" ... all honestly very confusing to me.

 

-  Is it that SAP will now do all the Latest Developments around WM only in the  "EWM" module & slowly phase out WMS in ECC ?

 

Thought someone might know.  This confuses me a lot & I as Head SCM am unable to give the Right Opinion to our Customers on where to head for Warehouse Management.

Connection error Destination: RFCGEOCODER_TEST_PTV

Dear All

 

  After the successful configuration for EWM - CIF, i created the distribution model CFC1 and executed the distribution model. But when i executes i received the error message

" Internal error in RFCG, IN. RFC: Connection error Destination: RFCGEOCODER_TEST_PTV Message no. GEOCODING004"

 

I checked the RFC connection for GEOCODER it works fine.

 

Kindly help on this issue.

Error while uploading Intital Stock in EWM

I am getting error while uploading Intial Stock in EWM via Txn code /SCWM/ISU.

 

below is the error " Prodcut XX does not exist " You can see the Product Warehouse data is maintained.

I am trying to create an inbound delivery from EWM. Whenever I am trying to save it is showing an error message

 

No Function module for WME receiver was found.

Warehouse Management used as a Batch system for non batch material?

We need to keep the Migo number (or rather a number we get in migo) for all of our imported material.


I do not see a problem achieving this for material with batch but I do not know how to keep this information for non-batch material.


Could maybe this be done with storage bins with Warehouse Management?

MFS: Resource that can move multiple HUs

Hello,

 

I have to implement the necessary functions to handle/control rack feeders, which can move two HUs. I found SAP-Note 2064457, which lists BAdIs for this purpose. My problem is, I work with a SAP EWM 9.0 and thus cannot use those BAdIs.

 

My questions are:

- Are there any standard functions for those kind of resources in SAP EWM 9.0?

- If not, which modifications do I have to make, to be able to use those resources in MFS?

 

Any tips, tutorials or documentation are highly appreciated.

Setting process codes(I004) for Inbound Delivery using ABAP code in SAP EWM.

Hello All,

 

Is there any way where i can automate the process of setting the process code(Adjust Delivery Quantity -> I004) for a certain set of Inbound Deliveries(i have this information).

 

Pls suggest if we can set the process codes automatically using ABAP code in EWM rather than doing manually.

Knapsack(algorithm) problem in EWM

Hi,

 

Does some have been in the situation to solve the Knapsack problem in EWM when doing the picking?

Here is the information about the problem Knapsack problem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Basically problem: "Given a set of items, each with a mass and a value, determine the number of each item to include in a collection so that the total weight is less than or equal to a given limit and the total value is as large as possible"

 

My question would be: Has EWM something standard to solve this? or do I have to implement my own algorithm?

During the GR in EWM ONLY the first HU is transferred from EWM to ERP but not the rest

Hi Experts,

 

I do not why HUs are not transferred from EWM to ERP.

 

The business process is the following:

1) Creation of PO in ERP (ME21N)

2) /SCWM/ERP_EGR_DELETE - Generate or Delete EGR from EWM 

3) /SCWM/GRPE - GR Preparation - External Procurement

4) /SCWM/RFUI - Receiving of HU by ASN

 

When I Receive the first HU, the first one it is transferred to the ERP along with the GR

(delivery flow document in the ERP)

When I Receive the following HUs, only the GR it is transferred to the ERP but not the HU

I've been check the configuration described on the following post but with no result:

Donot transfer Packing from EWM to ERP during receiving in EWM

 

I've also been checking the configuration under the customizing of ERP Integration but also with no result.

 

Has someone been on the same situation? Thanks

Auto release for 2 step picking process

In Two step picking process. once i confrim the withdrawal WT the system should release the wave automatically for creating  allocation WT. please share your ideas to achieve the same.

HU not available in ODO

Hi,

When we are checking the Outbound Delivery in EWM, the HU related to the delivery is not found, (the delivery is in completed status), we want to see the HU linked to the delivery,

FYI..We will be archiving the HU's which is older than 15 days.

Will this archiving, remove the HU which is linked to the delivery? How can we find which HU was assigned to this delivery?

Can any one help.

[LE-TRM]Link between Transfer Order and Task

Hi,

 

I would like to kindly ask for some help in LE-TRM. Trying to find the reference between Transfer Orders (LTAK/LTAP) and their Tasks. Can someone please explain for me where and how SAP links them together? Which table(s)/field(s)?  There are a lot of "reference" fields in the task tables but I was not able to identify anything TO related.

 

What did I miss?

Please advise.

How to restrict minimum articles (Not Quantity) in Storage bin in sap

Hi,

 

I want to restrict the minimum number of articles in one storage bin.Is there any configuration for that?

 

 

For Example  :

 

I have A,B,C materials in 'F0101011' bin which are having same material type,Now if i want to put Material D in the same bin,System not allow to put that article,it means in one bin i want to put only 3 articles(A,B,C). Here i don't want to consider Capacity and weight of the bin.

2ST Picking - Extended Warehouse Management

Hi Experts

 

In Two-Step Picking in Extended Warehouse Management the system picks stock from earlier "Release Withdrawal" stock which is at standard Intermediate storage type for two-step picking (2010).

 

The Process is ....

 

1. Create Wave

2. Assign outbound Delivery Requests to Wave

3. "Release Withdrawal"  - First step in 2 step picking , the stock is removed from High Rack source bin.

      and moved to intermedicate storage type 2010 for 2 step picking.

     The system creates WO / WTs for deliveries assigned.

     Confirm WO.

4.  Step 2 in 2 step is allocation .... so from WAVE - "Release"

      When you release wave the system picks stock from intermediate storage type 2010

      which is removed in step 1 from source bin ( in High Rack).

 

The issue is , in 2nd step the system picks stock (HUs) from earlier "release withdrawals" from 2010 and

allocates it to deliveries for which it was not withdrawn.

 

 

say for

 

Wave :1 --> Deliveries assigned : Del 1 , Del 2

First Release withdrawal - HU1 and HU2 are removed for deliveries Del1 and Del2.

The HUs are  at 2010 --> HU1 and HU2

 

Wave:2 --> Deliveries assigned : Del3 , Del4

Release withdrawal for this step removes HUs --> HU3 and HU4.

The HUs are at 2010 --> HU3 and HU4.

 

Now when we release wave 2 for allocation (by "release" button) ,

the system picks HUs from first wave HU1 and HU2 which are not relevant for wave 2 deliveries.

For wave 2 actually "release withdrawal" has removed HU3 and HU4.

 

Any idea , how to set it right so that correct HUs are picked for corrosponding waves ?

System could not determine source storage bin

Hello All,

 

I encountered above mentions error while creating Warehouse Task for Put away.

 

 

Scenario :- Trying to GR for Inbound Delivery created in ERP.

 

Steps : - 1.) Unloading for Inbound Delivery  in EWM

              2) GR before PUTAWAY

              3) Now trying to create WH task for PUTAWAY where i encountered below error.

Clearly we can see Source Storage BIN was picked from Warehouse Process type but still its not possible to create Warehouse Task.

 

 

I suspect ( tried some debugging) system is trying to find HU or TU no which is not there as i just created Inbound Del in ERP which got distributed and then processed it further as mentioned in above steps.

 

Let me know if i have to manually create TU or HU before or while doing unloading ?

Advaris Cables is a ERP, WMS (Warehouse Management) and MES (Manufacturing Execution System) for Cables and Wires Industry. Its certified from SAP. I am new to Advaris ERP.

Work Centre determination for VAS order

Hi,

 

Presently I have configured Inbound Process with Packing & VAS order(to post comsumption of packaging products used in work centre for packing).

The VAS order gets created automatically for the Inbound Delivery via "Define Relevance for VAS".

I am facing one issue while checking the VAS order in TX:- /SCWM/VAS_I

Issue:- VAS order is not able to determine the work centre.

 

 

Presently i am using EWM 9.1.

Please let me know what could be the configuration missing or any SAP note to be implemented for the same.

Re-determination of packaging material Consumption via VAS order

Hello EWM Gurus,

 

I have customized the Inbound Process in the following sequence :-

 

1. Unloading

2. Quality Inspection

3. Packing/VAS activity

4. Putaway

 

Here the VAS order gets created in the system via "Define Relevance for VAS" as soon as unloading of goods takes place.

 

Inbound Delivery -  material A - 40 EA

Packaging specification -  1 EA of material A is packed in 1 EA of packaging material B

 

Hence , as soon as the inbound delivery is saved in EWM, a VAS order gets created mentioning that 40 EA of packaging material B is required as part of VAS activity.

 

Issue:- During Quality inspection , 10 EA of material A has been scrapped.

Hence, only 30 EA of packaging material B is required for packing of the remaining quantities(30 EA) of material A.

Now, the quantities in VAS order are not getting re-determined based upon the stock required for packing in the work center.

Initial state of VAS order(Before Quality Inspection) :- Packaging material B - 40 EA

Final State of VAS order (After Quality Inspection) :- Packaging material B- 30 EA.

 

How the system can re-determine the VAS activity once again automatically so that final state of VAS order be achieved?

 

Please let me know if required any more information.
